PROJECT OUTCOME
This project assigned students to form a group with six person and analyse the passive designs of a building. The chosen building is ARA DAMANDARA MOSQUE in MALAYSIA, which is an interesting subject matter consisting of two passive design strategies for tropical climate.
Throughout this project, I learnt how to identify the environmental conditions related to site conditions and climate. I also have enhanced my knowledge about the effects of the sun on the thermal performance of buildings and the effect of insulation, thermal mass and air movement on thermal performance of buildings. Besides that, we also had learnt to use softwares [REVIT and VASARI] to draw and find out the sun path and wind flow which may affect to the building. Both softwares contributed a lot in the analysis made.
In addition to that, I also made use of the softwares learnt and the knowIegde from this project in 'Architecture Design Studio 3'. These guided me to a more proper design in terms of sustainability and understanding the responses of design in relation to the designated site.
