Architecture Culture and History 1

Architecture Culture and History 1 is a module that introduces a basic architecture history and theory from the beginning of time to the Enlightenment. Throughout this module, students will be able to classify the sequence of historical periods and how are they presented architecturally.
Project 1A
Students are required to write a 500-word essay to communicate information that is relevant to the precedent study in a group of 5.  We were assigned is the building Hagia Sophia which is from Byzantine/Romanesque period. We used appropriate architectural vocabulary referring to building types, styles and period. After completing this project, I learned about the history of how Hagia Sophia was built and what was it used for. We also learned about the relation to its byzantine and romanesque architecture.
Project 1B
In project 1B, we were required to produce a manually drawn A2 size board about the in-depth analysis of Hagia Sophia. I was assigned the topic of circulation relating to the building. I wrote and drew about the physical circulation of humans in and out of the bbuilding, the site approach as well as the circulation of air. All the informations were in relation to the time period in which in was built.
Project 1C
In this part of the project, we had to build a model of Hagia Sophia within a limited space of 30*30*30cm. We choose to make one with the entrance of the building cut out to show the inside and lay emphasis on the main dome with the 40 windows. While making the model, we learned how to handle blasa wood. We learnt how to cut out accurately and even bend balsa wood. We also learnt how to reprensent a concept within a physical model.
