COMMUNITY SERVICE INITIATIVE
Community Service Initiative is a mandatory module that forms part of our 3-year degree programme. This subject has given us the chance to further explore into our community and engage with people from different backgrounds. We are thankful for the Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor (PPKKCKS) for allowing us the chance to conduct this assignment which is also a way to pay back to the community. During the semester, we planned various activities that could help the children develop their creativity through artistic ways and even befriended some along the journey. Moreover, our group even paid 3 visits to the Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor (PPKKCKS) in order to show our commitment.
When we went to PPKKCKS for the first time, we were baffled about the atmosphere and the way we caught everyone's attention over there. Since the care-home hosts needy children, special care has to be taken to ensure everything goes somoothly. As planned beforehand, we tried to engage with them through artworks. The children seemed very happy to have a break from their daily routines and participate in a fun activity with us. We concluded the first visit with artworks and then meeting the staff at PPKKCKS to have further discussion with them about their condition and capability for planning the next event.
During the second visit, we planned to engage with them through artworks while using materials such as paper, leaves, color pencil and water color amongst others. Being an international student in malaysia, it was even more difficult for me to understand the needy childred. Creative artworks created a form of communication between us all, and the kids expressed themselves brilliantly through artworks.
Below are some photos of site visits conducted.

Art Exhibition at Taylor's Lakeside University
After having held painting activities at the home-care centre, with the constant help of lecturers we planned to exhibit the paintings at Taylors Lakeside University. The location of the exhibition provided youngsters a chance to discover and have more interest of these needy children. The exhibiton indeed was a success when we could see many people stopping by and glancing at the paintings.
On that day, the children were also invited at Taylors Lakeside University to have a tour and also participate in painting sessions which occured publicly. Many were amazed and appreciated the abilities and potential of these children. It definitely attracted the attention of many and created an awareness in their mind.
Later on, the kids were served food and beverages and had a walking tour around the campus. Before leaving, our team gifted the PPKKCKS a souvenir book because we shall always cherish these memories. This whole experience has allowed me to grow as a better person.

Own Contribution
My own contribution in this project comprises of the site visits and activities at PPKKCKS home-care as well as designing the activities that the children performed during the activity days. I carried out several activities as trials, and only the finalised ones were performed by the needy children.
I also helped for the exhibition at Taylors Lakeside University, and the activities performed on that day.

Conclusion
After having spent 10 weeks doing this module, my attitute towards needy people has changed a lot and i realised that the society needs to pay more attention to them. The children at PPKKCKS definitely have lots of talents and its only a matter of how they express it. If given the right opportunity, the needy children will succeed brilliantly at whatever they encounter.
The project has also helped other university students appreciate needy people and hopefully it will have a positive impact on the future generations.

Personally i wish to thank our lecturers, for their full guidance and advices on this project.

Special Thanks to our lecturers, Taylor's Lakeside University and PPKKCKS
